When David Mann helps lawyers put together a theme for their case, he often refers to transcripts from depositions and hearings to help him synthesize that data. Now ideally lawyers will have the general direction of the story they want to convey before any discovery happens to increase their odds of winning over the jury. To emphasize how much of an impact storyboarding has in the court room, internet carrier Spectrum was ordered to pay $7 billion in the case of a wrongful death of an older woman by an employee. Jack Russo and David Mann discuss how proper storytelling would have played to Spectrum’s defenses and possibly have won over the jury.
