Vaccines are being pumped into arms faster than they are rolling out, and despite the agonizingly long lines you see on television, many eligible people are outright refusing the vaccine. One of the reasons vaccines remain controversial has to do with science and religion clashing over the use of fetal tissue. Following the Vatican’s revised statement on vaccines derived from fetal tissue, Jack Russo and eventual Nobel Prize winner Professor Leonard Hayflick (discoverer of the Hayflick Limit) discuss the strained relationship between science and religion and why a single apology after 60 years of denouncement does little to solve a historic moral issue. Though these two have made a step towards reconciliation, science and religion may never see eye to eye which begs the question: are science and religion too opposite to coexist or do they make for strange bedfellows?
